As much as this sound could be seen as a great deal for Ghana and the rest of Africa, we definitely don’t feel that way. ‘Bibia Be Ye Ye’ means ‘Everything will be alright’ in the Ghanaian dialect TWI. In the song Ed gives words of encouragement saying everything will be alright. The song is believed to be produced by Fuse ODG while the two were in Ghana last year on holidays. Nevertheless its was a great effort on that kind of hilife beat.
A few issues we would like to outline here;
Looking at how the African music is penetrating the international markets; with the likes for WizKid, Davido, P Sqare and Diamond Platnumz collaborating with big superstars like Drake, Chris Brown, Meek Mill, Ne Yo etc. This makes our African neighbours proud of their effort in the music industry, creating more chances for up and coming musicians. Establishing these relationships now is a great deal for Africa a the moment. With these collaborations the prognosis of African music can reach as far as the Grammys if we continue to explore and build connections.

Africa will agree that Hilife music originated from Ghana in the 20th Century hence we hold the authentic sound when it comes to this genre of music, it is from this sound which has propelled the current afrobeats sound. With that being said, ‘Bibia Be Ye Ye’ even though was produced by a Ghanaian, we feel it should have featured one of our current hilife artists. Mugeez of R2bees, Bisa Kdei or Akwaboah would have been great on the song. This way if the intention of Ed Sheeran was to represent Ghana in any way, it would have been more meaningful if a hilife artist was on there. The Nigerians seem to make their way easily to the west with their artist yet Ghanaians lack that ability.
